If some rooms in your Burlington home never get enough air, or you’re living with uneven room temperatures between floors, leaky ducts are a common cause. Leaks in hidden duct runs let heated or cooled air escape before it reaches your rooms, and you can’t see them without testing.
We measure your duct leakage, fix the gaps we can reach by hand, seal the rest from the inside with Aeroseal, then measure again. You keep the Aeroseal Seal Certificate with both numbers on it.
We recently sealed the ducts in a home in Burlington. Before sealing, the duct leakage measured 51.3%. After sealing, it measured 5.7%.
This job took longer than usual, and it’s a good example of why we test first. We ran a smoke test, using theatrical smoke to show where the air was escaping. It led us to a large hole in one of the ducts, hidden behind a wall and big enough to put a hand through.
Aeroseal seals gaps up to about 5/8 inch, so a hole like that has to be fixed by hand. We repaired the duct by hand first, and only then started the Aeroseal sealing.
In plain words: most of the air that was escaping through leaks in the ductwork now reaches the rooms instead. The leakage left is about a ninth of where it started.
These are measured numbers, not estimates. We test before we start and again after sealing, and every Aeroseal job ends with a Seal Certificate showing both. We never share our customers’ addresses.

Burlington has everything from older houses near the lake to newer subdivisions. A few things we look for, generally speaking:
Most homes take about 4 hours for sealing, or about 6 hours with air balancing. See the full process →
Aeroseal seals gaps up to about 5/8 inch. Bigger holes, like the one we found in Burlington, and disconnected ducts get repaired by hand first, and we’ll tell you before doing any extra work. It’s not duct cleaning, and it won’t make an undersized furnace or AC bigger. If the test shows sealing won’t help much, we’ll say so.
All registers in the home included.
Also included: the leakage test before and after, hand-sealing of accessible gaps, Aeroseal sealing and your Seal Certificate. See all services and prices →
Large holes or disconnected ducts are repaired by hand before sealing, and we quote that before doing it.
No. Cleaning removes dust. Aeroseal seals leaks so more heated or cooled air reaches your rooms.
We fix it by hand first. Aeroseal seals gaps up to about 5/8 inch, so anything bigger, or a duct that’s come apart, gets repaired before sealing. On a recent Burlington job, a smoke test found a large hole in a duct behind a wall. We repaired it by hand, then sealed the rest with Aeroseal, and the leakage went from 51.3% to 5.7%. We’ll always tell you what we found and quote the repair before doing it. If we have to open a wall or ceiling to reach the duct, patching the drywall afterwards is up to the homeowner.
We measure your leakage before and after sealing. Both numbers are on your Aeroseal Seal Certificate, and you keep a copy.
Most homes take about 4 hours for sealing, or about 6 with air balancing. It can take longer if we find a big leak that has to be fixed by hand first. Someone needs to let us in and be around at the start and the end. We ask that as few people as possible stay in the house while the sealing runs.
